Event Two Recap
The second CivRush event (E2) ran for five days from March 29 through April 2, 2024. It featured a barren and dry map consisting only of desert and badlands biomes and incorporated inspiration from Dune for it's custom mobs and some structures. Unlike the first event, this one received very little promotion and sadly, that resulted in a low player count.
Awards
Due to the low player count and relative lack of PvP we will forgoe awards for Event Two.
The E2 World
The E2 World was 1500 x 1500 blocks in size and consisted of a central badlands/mesa region of jagged hills surrounded by a vast desert.
World Mechanics
As with most "civ" servers, E2 utilized the RealisticBiomes to slow and control crop and tree growth. Most crops could grow in 30 minutes or less in one of the two biomes. At SOTW, the map featured less than a dozen trees and almost no crops but these could be acquired as drops from various mobs.
There were two blocks of surface water on the entire map but water could be found underground.
Custom Mobs
All of the Overworld custom mobs in E2 were inspired by Dune. No custom models were used for the mobs in E2. In the nether, players could find Obsidian Golems which dropped obsidian for portals and other useful resources.
Bene Geserit | With the ability to throw potions like a witch the Bene Geserit were passive unless attacked and dropped a variety of seeds, spawn eggs, and other items.
Fedaykin | The Fremen Fedaykin roamed the vast deserts weilding Chrysknives and would attack players, Harkonnen, or Sardaukar on sight.
Harkonnen | Harkonnen spawned in the badlands carrying an iron sword and shield and attacking players or Fremen on sight.
Naib | The Fremen Naib were seen less than other mobs but could attack at range with their bows.
Sardaukar | The Imperial Sardaukar could be found at a few structures and in the badlands. Armed with Imperial swords they attacked Fremen, players, and monsters alike if they came too close.
Obsidian Golem | Endlessly roaming the nether, the Obsidian Golems are dangerous but if you defeat them they may drop obsidian to help you escape the nether or even their obsidian sword. |
Structures
There were several structures to be found in the E2 map including:
The Tower This massive structure reached up into the sky and was topped by diamond and emerald blocks for the player able to reach them first.
Underground Chambers Two underground chambers were just beneath the surface to be discovered, each contained valuable loot.
Spice Harvester In line with the Dune theme, a large spice harvester could be found deep in the desert.
The Temple Those paying attention might notice that this structure was also in the E1 map though this time it was featured with a desert makeover.
Player Built Structures The lower player count for this event gave some the safety to do some building. This settlement was located at the worldborder in the northeast of the map. |
